Learn more at bonterratech.com.</p><h3><b>About the Role</b></h3><p>The Privacy and Product Counsel handles a wide variety of legal matters for <a href="https://himalayas.app/companies/bonterra">Bonterra</a>, with a focus on privacy, data protection, and AI compliance. This position will report to the General Counsel.</p><p>You will join a creative, collaborative, solutions-oriented team. We are looking for a proactive attorney who can design effective and scalable processes while employing an empathetic interpersonal style that can build bridges across stakeholders. This is a new role on the team, so the ideal candidate will be comfortable establishing this function both on the team and in the company.</p><p>The ideal candidate will in the past have had success: (1) managing multiple projects/deals and driving them to completion autonomously within required timeframes; (2) figuring things out even without prior (or direct) experience in that area; (3) developing trusted partnerships within your team and with key stakeholders; (4) identifying use cases that could benefit from repeatable processes and proposing what those processes could look like (and how they could be adopted), especially for product and privacy/data protection processes; and (5) approaching situations and people with curiosity and willingness to learn, commit, and contribute to solving for immediate as well as long-term solutions.</p><p>*<b>Preferred location Austin or central Texas</b> for occasional/as needed in-person collaboration at our Austin office, but open to fully remote candidates.*</p><h3>Responsibilities:</h3><ul><li><p>Designing, improving, and implementing our global privacy and data protection compliance programs and processes, as well as educating our teams about relevant privacy and data protection laws.</p></li><li><p>Developing and overseeing <a href="https://himalayas.app/companies/bonterra">Bonterra</a>'s AI governance and compliance program, including policies, risk assessments, and controls to address privacy, transparency, and ethical considerations in AI and machine learning systems.</p></li><li><p>Drafting and maintaining privacy and data protection policies, notices or
