You will lead the design and engineering of scalable AI powered automation solutions, using n8n as a core orchestration platform to improve productivity, quality, and operational scale. This is a highly visible individual contributor role that combines hands on engineering, platform ownership, and technical leadership to accelerate business transformation across the organization. You will partner with teams across Avalara to embed intelligent workflows, AI agents, and data-driven decisioning into business processes while establishing standards that enable secure, reliable, and measurable automation.</p><p>This is a full-time role with Avalara, offering a fully remote work arrangement across the United States.</p><h3>What Your Responsibilities Will Be</h3><ul><li>Own and help execute Avalara's enterprise AI automation and transformation strategy, with n8n serving as a core workflow orchestration platform</li><li>Design and build scalable, secure, and resilient automation solutions that reduce manual work and improve business process efficiency</li><li>Develop AI-enabled workflows, intelligent agents, and decisioning frameworks that support business transformation across multiple functions</li><li>Architect API-first and event-driven integrations that connect enterprise systems, automation platforms, and AI services</li><li>Establish platform standards for development, deployment, monitoring, reliability, and governance across automation initiatives</li><li>Define and maintain CI/CD processes, environment strategies, and release practices that improve automation quality and delivery speed</li><li>Create reusable automation frameworks, workflow templates, prompt patterns, and AI agent accelerators that increase consistency and reuse</li><li>Implement observability, monitoring, alerting, and performance measurement practices for both traditional and AI-driven workflows.</li><li>Lead technical design reviews, workflow assessments, and post-incident reviews to improve platform reliability and operational excellence</li><li>Mentor engineers and implementation partners while promoting best practices for AI automation, agent orchestration, responsible AI, and workflow engineering</li></ul><h3>What You'll Need to be Successful</h3><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field and 10+ years of experience in enterprise automation, workflow engineering, integration engineering, or platform architecture</li><li>Deep hands-
